Beyond voice — W6LIE members explore all facets of amateur radio
Many W6LIE members use digital modes like FT8 for long-distance contacts with minimal power, JS8Call for keyboard-to-keyboard communications, and Winlink for email over radio — critical during emergencies when internet is down.
Ham radio operators can communicate via amateur satellites and even contact the International Space Station. Club members with General or higher licenses have access to the HF bands most commonly used for DX and satellite work.
W6LIE's repeater is linked via EchoLink (Node 487530) and AllStar (Node 603051), connecting our local repeater to hams worldwide. You can access W6LIE from anywhere in the world using your computer or smartphone.
W6LIE provides communications support for local community events including marathons, parades, and civic gatherings. Public service hours count toward ARRL participation awards and help demonstrate ham radio's value to the community.
